Daniel J. Farnsworth, Jr. is the managing member of Pettus/Farnsworth Law Firm

Pettus/Farnsworth Law Firm, with offices in Greenville, South Carolina, and Keysville, Virginia, is a Trial Law Firm, focusing primarily on Wrongful Death, Traumatic Injury cases, and Criminal Law.

After earning his law degree from the University of South Carolina in the Spring of 1994, Dan clerked for South Carolina Circuit Judge, Jackson V. Gregory of the 14th Judicial Circuit in Beaufort, South Carolina.  Dan then served as an Assistant Solicitor with the 13th Judicial Circuit in Greenville, South Carolina, where he prosecuted violent crimes, drug cases, and DUI charges, along with managing the Solicitor’s Office court docket.  In 1996, Dan began his private law practice and began assisting the Greenville County Public Defender’s Office, including the defense of his first murder case, in which he won an acquittal.

After several years practicing law in Greenville, Mr. Farnsworth returned to South Central Virginia, where he was raised, and established his second law office in rural Virginia. There he served two terms as President of the Tenth Circuit Bar Association and consecutive terms on the Board of Governors for the Virginia Bar’s General Practice Section.  Among the cases he handled in his Virginia practice, were Wrongful Death and Injury cases, Disability claims, DUI and Criminal charges, Real Estate transactions, Small Business formations, Contract disputes, and Wills and Estates.

Returning to Greenville full time in 2006, Mr. Farnsworth has focused for the last decade primarily on cases involving Nursing Home Neglect, Wrongful Death and Traumatic Injuries, along with claims of Misconduct by Law Enforcement and Government Officials. Dan has been selected as a National Top 100 Trial Lawyer and continues to fight for those who are taken advantage of by those abusing their power, discretion or privilege.

During his more than 20 years of practice, Mr. Farnsworth has earned distinction at the National Trial Advocacy College at the University of Virginia Law School, continues to serve a member of the South Carolina Bar Fee Dispute Board, and has brought several new lawyers along through the South Carolina Supreme Court’s Mentor’s Program.

Education

Dan Farnsworth Family ManMr. Farnsworth graduated from Virginia Tech, with a Bachelors Degree in Psychology and a minor Political Science.  While in college he served on the Commission on Student Affairs and as Interfraternity Council President. He was selected as a member of Omicron Delta Kappa Leadership Fraternity, Order of the Gavel, and Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.

Mr. Farnsworth earned his law degree from the University of South Carolina in 1994.  While in law school, Mr. Farnsworth served as the Managing Editor of the South Carolina Environmental Law Journal and awarded the Justice Julius B. Ness Scholarship, along with membership in the South Carolina Trial Lawyers Association and the Palmetto Law Society.
